SSL Certificate validation types
There are three SSL certificate validation types:
* DV (Domain Validation):
* Verifies domain ownership via email (DCV)
* Issued quickly (typically 1–7 days)
* Basic security, no business verification
* OV (Organization Validation):
* Includes domain validation (DCV email)
* Verifies business via online records (e.g., DUNS)
* Requires phone verification
* Moderate trust level
* EV (Extended Validation):
* Includes DCV plus extensive business verification
* Confirms company legitimacy, ownership, and requester authority
* Requires phone verification, documentation, and signed agreement
* May include background checks and government record validation
* Highest trust level, strictest requirements
